Barbara Anton ruby and yellow gold horse head slide-brooch circa 1970. *
ABOUT THIS ITEM: #P5024. Scroll down for specifications. Barbara Anton’s interpretation of a horse at full gallop is palpably visible in this intense horse’s head slide -brooch. The gold burns powerfully bright. There is the flared nostril, and there is the powerfully forward-focused eye, both set with red rubies. The mane is sweeping back in swift disordered movement, pure speed. The absence of a bridle or any other handling equipment implies that this horse is free and wild, a mustang. We don’t have to see its entire body to know that it is moving fast. This is genial. On the back side, the brooch is fitted with a pair of loops, and the pin stem is curved inwardly, to facilitate wearing it as a pendant.
