Moonstone and Amethyst Victorian Bangle

Unique Victorian moonstone and amethyst bangle, circa 1900.  The hinged design centers upon a mystifying color scheme dominated by a glowing, oblong moonstone, artfully set between a pair of bright faceted round amethysts, mounted in 14 karat gold, fitted with a safety chain.  In 1868, Victorian author Wilkie Collins published a novel titled The Moonstone, allegedly the first detective story ever written.  The masterful plot revolves and thickens around the theft of a famous diamond.
